27 th November

Today I was with Iwona. In the afternoon there was Andrzejki party combined with Halloween party. Andrzejki is an old Polish custom. In old days people believed that on this day they can foretell their luck for incoming year. So they did fortune-telling. They poured liquid wax through key into the water and then looked at the shape of the cooled wax – it was what was going to happen to them. They took the shoes off and made a queue of them heading to the door . Owner of the first shoe to enter the door was going to get marry soon. During the party we also did some fortune telling. We also dressed up and play a Halloween game: pin-a-tail-to-a-donkey. Iwona was dressed up as a vampire and I was an Indian. We had a great time. Teacher took photoes of us. At 6 o’clock we came back home with Sławek’s mum. Sławek is Iwona’s classmate and he was dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood. When we got home Iwona gave me a present - a beautiful red and white scarf she had made herself! we took some more photoes, had supper and went to bed
